There are many reasons why you might experience problems connecting to the Internet, in order to check for VIPM updates and check for package updates. Try the following:
• Configure Firewall – Make sure that any firewall software is configured to allow VIPM ("VI Package Manager.exe") to access the Internet.
• Configure Proxy – If computers on your network are required to use a proxy server to access the Internet, make sure that you have configured VIPM (in the Internet options) to use the proxy server settings provided by your IT department.
• Test Connection – Make sure that other applications can access the Internet. If other applications cannot connect either, then the problem is probably not related to VIPM.
